Whistleblower
Our Whistleblower reporting system
Compliance with legal regulations and internal rules is a top priority for the Volkswagen Group. The success of our Group is based on Integrity and Compliance. In order to meet certain standards, it is necessary to become aware of potential violations by our employees or suppliers and to put an end to them. That is why we have entrusted the Central Bureau of Investigation to operate the independent, impartial and confidential Whistleblower System on our behalf
Qualified and experienced employees from the Investigation Bureau thoroughly investigate each report and take systematic follow-up.
A key pillar of our Whistleblower System is the principle of due process. It guarantees the greatest possible protection for whistleblowers, people involved in the case and employees involved in the investigation.
It also includes the ability to report anonymously and communicate anonymously. The Volkswagen Group guarantees that it will not take any steps to identify anonymous whistleblowers who do not abuse the Whistleblower System. Importantly, retaliation against whistleblowers and all those who contribute to investigations will not be tolerated. Those involved are presumed innocent until the violation is proven. Investigations will be conducted with the utmost confidentiality and information will be handled in a fair and expeditious manner, with adequate protection.
How do we handle your report?
Qualified and experienced colleagues from the Investigation Office thoroughly investigate every report of a potential violation by a Volkswagen Group employee and systematically take further action. You will first receive a confirmation of receipt of your application. The Investigation Office then evaluates your report. This includes gathering facts, in particular from the reporting person. Only if this preliminary assessment shows grounds for suspicion of a violation will an investigation by a special investigation unit be initiated. The results of the investigation will then be assessed by the Bureau of Investigation and appropriate measures will be recommended. Information about the status* and outcome of the proceedings will be communicated to you without undue delay.
Potential violations of the Code of Conduct for Business Partners by suppliers, including serious threats and abuses of human rights and the environment by direct and indirect suppliers, can also be reported to the Bureau of Investigation – as well as reports that require immediate action otherwise. The Bureau of Investigation will inform the responsible departments that will deal with the case accordingly. This includes, in particular, taking the necessary measures to minimize or terminate violations and/or risks.
*Processing time varies depending on the subject of the procedure
